My husband and I had such a great experience with Mary. Our Alaskan Malamute Jubilee feel in
love with doodle dogs and so we wanted her to have a doodle brother. We found Mary and
ultimately our boy Eli.
We loved all of the pictures of Mary’s puppies being held and loved in her home while the
puppies needed to stay with their mom. Eli is so loving and affectionate towards my husband
and myself and I have no doubt its all thanks to Mary and all of the love she made sure Eli got
before he came home with us.
Mary was very patient with us when we went and held all of the puppies before we knew Eli
was meant to be ours. Mary sent us pictures and updates of Eli before he was ready to come
home with us. When it came time to bring Eli home she had a nice little goodie bag of things
like toys, food, blankets and even two bones one for Eli and one for Jubilee. The milk that Mary
suggested we give to Eli after we brought him home has become a part of both of our dogs'
dinners. Also, the raw meat bones Mary gave us also became a part of our daily routine.
Jubilee and Eli became close friends within a few days of bringing Eli home. We get so many
comments from people at dog parks because they love watching Eli chase Jubilee. Eli is so
sporty and athletic at the dog park that it is not uncommon for people to stop to watch him
jump in the river to fetch a ball, or jump over fences and climb easy- to- climb trees! There have
even been a few times a large enough crowd (of about 7 people) clapped for Eli after a leap
over a fence or in the water to get a ball. It was like they thought Eli was there to put on a show
for them.
Eli is also very protective of me. When my husband is not around and Eli believes that
something is a treat to me he will not hessite to go after the perceived treat.
Eli was a great addition to our family and working with Mary to add Eli to our family made this already special event even better!
Mary was so great to work with! From the beginning, Mary gave a lot of helpful information over the phone and frequently sent emails updating us on how Mabel and the puppies were doing. My family really loved following the puppies on her Facebook page and seeing how much they grew!
Mary would sing to the puppies and helped get them used to normal household things like vacuuming and being around children. Mary arranged for us to come and meet all the puppies so we could pick out which one we wanted. She was very accommodating when it was time to pick up our puppy. This was especially helpful since we live east of the mountains.
Our dog Ava has such a great temperament and brings so much joy to our family! You can tell she was well cared for by Mary!
"After our beloved dog of 13 years, Comet, passed away in August 2019 we knew we wanted to get another dog, but needed time to heal first. After a year without him and a move across the country away from our extended family, we started talking about getting a puppy once we settled into our new home. Then a moment of serendipity, our long-time friends who are like family out here in WA, told us about their daughter’s tutor’s dog having GoldenDoodle puppies. Our friend put us in touch with Mary to find out more information. I immediately connected with Mary when we discovered we both grew up in NY, and we as a family quickly fell in love with Mabel’s babies and the caring home they were born into.
Trying to choose a puppy during Covid restrictions was a challenge since we couldn’t meet them in person to touch them or interact with them to see if we connected with a particular one. However, Mary made the best of the situation by inviting us over to view the puppies through her big glass window and doing several FaceTime visits.
She also sent us pictures and videos and a weekly blog she wrote about the puppies. I looked forward to reading her blog post each week, along with the pictures and videos to see what they were up to and learn about the different personalities emerging. We texted, we talked, and we FaceTimed with the puppies. We asked many questions and always got prompt and thoughtful responses. We eventually chose Tango, who we renamed Potter and brought home at 9 weeks.
The day we picked up Potter was such an emotional day. We were sad to be taking our puppy away from his mommy Mabel, littermates, and Grandma Mary, but we were so happy to be bringing him home to welcome him into our family. Mary sent us home with a bag of goodies including homemade puppy treats, a blanket with Mabel’s smell, and a marrow bone Mabel chewed on.
We were so happy to finally hold him and feel his soft, wavy fur. Once we got him home I was worried because he wouldn’t pee or poop so I texted Mary and she reassured me that he was okay and that he was going through a major adjustment into a new home. She was right, and he quickly settled into our home and family.
Now, over three months after bringing home a tiny, eleven pound puppy, we have a thirty-three pound super soft, wavy, fluffy buddy. He has bonded with everyone in our family, but I am definitely his favorite and he follows me around the house. He gets upset when I leave, but he’s so happy when I come home and gives lots of hugs. He loves playing with the kids, fetching his ball, running around, finding treats in his brain-puzzle toys, getting his belly rubbed, and going for walks. He is very food motivated and very intelligent which has been a great help for training.
He does a great job with sit, shake, lay down, stay, and come. We’re currently in puppy classes and are trying to help him warm up to strangers and other dogs. Social distancing due to Covid-19 has definitely made that part a little harder, but he’s getting better and better. He has brought so much love and joy and kept us busy throughout the holidays and since during a time that would have been hard to be so far away from our extended family and hard to make new friends when you’re social distancing.
We’ve stayed connected to Potter’s littermates through a private Facebook group and we love reading about his brothers and sisters and seeing them grow and change through the pictures and videos posted. It’s also a great place to get advice and feedback from others that are going through the same developmental stages. We also love reading posts about his mama Mabel and see what she’s up to. We look forward to hopefully meeting up with his littermates at a park someday for a family reunion.
We are so glad we met Mary and have Potter as a part of our family. We can’t imagine life without him."
